Our goal is to make your life easier, foster parents. We know first-hand how overwhelming those first days with a new placement can be, and we are here to connect caregivers with the items needed when welcoming a new child into your home.

We also know that children in foster care have historically been bounced from place to place with very little priority given to the 'felt safety' of the environments they are put in. Due to the crisis nature of their circumstances, most of these children spend their waiting times in sterile, institutional-feeling offices and transitional spaces that only add further trauma. What we know from child development and trauma-informed care, though, is that environments that are designed especially for these children are critical in reducing the amount of stress they endure during these difficult transitions. Utilizing the unique expertise and experience of our staff, we are designing our resource center to look and feel like a safe haven for every child who comes through the doors.

This child-friendly, trauma-informed Resource Center will be home to our Support Gatherings, therapeutic play gatherings, partner meetings, Play Studio for special visitations, and easily accessible basic necessities. It will be stocked by the community with items for children entering foster care and available at no charge to caregivers. When children visit our resource center, they immediately know that it is their place.

Items we provide at our resource center will include:

  • Clothes
  • Beds
  • Cribs
  • Car seats
  • Pack n Plays
  • Infant necessities
  • Welcome Packs, designed for children coming into care as emergency placements (these are custom packed for each child and generally contain about seven outfits, some basic toiletries, new socks, new underpants/diapers, books and a cuddly toy)
  • And much more!

Currently, when caregivers submit requests for new placements, one of our Welcome Pack Team members pack and deliver these critical necessities to familes. Once our Resource Center opens, caregivers will have the option to come “shop” free of charge or have one of our volunteers deliver items to their home within our coverage area. We do our best to honor all requests from licensed foster families bringing in emergency placements, kinship families, case workers, CASA and reunifying biological families working with CPS. Our current service area is McLennan County.

LET US KNOW WHAT YOU ARE IN NEED OF ON OUR REQUEST FORM. WE WILL EMAIL OR CALL YOU WITHIN 24 HOURS TO DISCUSS HOW WE CAN HELP.

“I am obsessed with Foster Village!! The staff and volunteers are wonderful, kind and so helpful! We were gifted a bunk bed and needed mattresses, bedding and one of our kiddos came to us with literally only the clothes on his back. Luckily, I reached out to Foster Village and they gifted us clothing, a backpack and a few toys! Thank you for helping us welcome this amazing young man and making him feel loved!" - Tori
